What if we all gave on one day?

We can on April 9th for Spring2ACTion, Alexandria’s Giving Day. Spring2ACTion is a 24-hour online event that encourages everyone to contribute to Alexandria’s nonprofit organizations through a single online giving platform on Wednesday, April 9, 2014.

Last year, Spring2ACTion raised nearly $660,000 in one day, benefitting 97 local nonprofit organizations. This year, our goal is raise $1,000,000 for more than 100 nonprofits. To meet this goal, we need your help!

Prizes will be awarded for the following categories:

Most Donors Leaderboard, sponsored by the Mason Hirst Foundation

  • 1st Place $5,000 grant
  • 2nd Place $2,500 grant
  • 3rd Place $1,000 grant
  • 4th Place $500 grant
  • 5th Place $100 grant

Most Dollars Leaderboard, sponsored by the Campbell Kent Fund

  • 1st Place $5,000 grant
  • 2nd Place $2,500 grant
  • 3rd Place $1,000 grant
  • 4th Place $500 grant
  • 5th Place $100 grant

Free Agent Fundraiser Leaderboard (based on most unique donors), sponsored by The Bruhn-Morris Family Foundaiton

  • 1st Place $3,000 grant
  • 2nd Place $1,500 grant
  • 3rd Place $500 grant

First Timers Leader Board (based on most dollars raised), sponsored by the Speck-Caudron Investment Group of Wells Fargo Advisors

  • 1st Place $1,000 grant
  • 2nd Place $500 grant
  • 3rd Place $250 grant

ACTion Hero Prizes, sponsored by David & Diann Frantz

Individual donors will be randomly chosen hourly from 10am - 10pm and their designated nonprofit will receive an additional $100 donation.

Power Hours, sponsored by the Washington Forrest Foundation

$500 cash grants will be awarded to nonprofits reaching designated levels on the leader board.

  • Nonprofit with the most # of donors by 8am
  • Nonprofit with the most dollars raised by 8am
  • Nonprofit that “raises” the most # of donors from 11am-noon, 3-4pm and 7-8pm and 10-11pm
  • Nonprofit that raises the most dollars from 11am-noon, 3-4pm and 7-8pm and 10-11pm

$500 Dining Prize

You Dine, They Give
25 cents from each meal purchased at Holy Cow, Pork Barrel BBQ and Sweet Fire Donna’s will be donated to the charity of the customer’s choice on April 9. The organization with the most designations at all three of the restaurants will receive a $500 prize.

You Shop, OTBD Gives!
A percentage of sales from local shops will be donated to the charity of the customer’s choice on April 9. The organization with the most designations at the Old Town Boutique District Shops will receive a $500 prize. Visit www.causetown.org/spring2action for a complete list.

Rules

Who can donate during Spring2ACTion?

Any individual may donate. Donations through the Spring2ACTion site are processed by Razoo Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity that operates a donor advised fund to fulfill donor advisements. Donations are tax deductible and irrevocable (donations will not be refunded). Contributions may be made via credit and debit card only.

What organizations are eligible to receive donations and Spring2ACTion prizes?

Alexandria nonprofit organizations (or nonprofits benefitting Alexandria) listed on the Spring2ACTion leader board are eligible to receive grants and prizes. Funds raised and prizes won must be directed towards Alexandria programs and services. Please note that private non-operating foundations cannot receive donations on Spring2ACTion.org or Razoo.com and are not eligible prizes.

How much of the donation will go to the nonprofit?

93% of all designated donations are received by the nonprofit. The Razoo Foundation retains 4.9% of each donation for credit card processing and disbursement costs and 2.1% is retained by ACT for Alexandria for administrative expenses.

Is there a fee to participate?

There is no fee for an organization to participate in Spring2ACTion.

Is there a minimum or maximum donation?

The minimum donation is $10 and there is no maximum donation limit. Donations are tax-deductible and irrevocable (donations will not be refunded). Contribution may be made via credit and debit card only.

Is there a limit to the amount an organization can receive during Spring2ACTion?

There is no maximum to the amount an organization may receive.

How can an organization receive donations?

How will an organization know who has donated to them?

Organizations can track donations in real-time and have access to donor names and contact information, unless the donor chooses to make an anonymous contribution.

If I am unsatisfied with my donation, can I get a refund?

No, all donations made through Spring2ACTion are final and non-refundable.

What is a unique donor?

A unique donor refers to a person who makes a donation to a nonprofit on Spring2ACTion. The goal for Spring2ACTion is to engage thousands of individuals – or unique donors - to give to Alexandria nonprofits on April 9th. Each person will be counted once in our “total donors” tally that will be updated every 15 minutes on the Spring2ACTion landing page. If one person makes donations to multiple organizations, they will be counted once per organization on the leader boards.

When individuals donate for Spring2ACTion, who will receive this information?

The nonprofit organization receiving the donation will receive the contact information for the donor. As the host of Spring2ACTion, ACT for Alexandria will also receive the information to thank the donor for participating in Spring2ACTion; provide the option to opt-in to receiving notifications from ACT; and to notify the donor of future Spring2ACTion activities and updates.

What else? Any fine print?

ACT for Alexandria can modify any restrictions or conditions if, in the sole judgment of the Board of Directors, such restriction or condition becomes unnecessary, incapable of fulfillment or inconsistent with the charitable needs of the community. ACT for Alexandria reserves the right to deny or condition the distribution of prize grants if, in the judgment of its Board of Directors, such restriction or condition becomes necessary.
